If your wireless system does not appear to be working, the suggestions below will. If the RF indicator is on, try speaking loudly into the microphone while. Check the receiver audio with headphones (if the receiver has a headphone output).

[Tech] Turtle Beach headset adapter not working with standard Xbox One controller.

So I have been using the Turtle Beach EArfoce XO Seven headphones which use the Earforce Headset Audio Controller Plus to connect into the controller.

Headset Mic Not Working

I have had no issues using this with the controller that came with my COD:AW xbox one. However, last night the controller stick started jamming, so I decided to use my other controller which ive never used before. It is also a basic wireless xbox one controller.

I plugged everything in, had to do the controller update, and then... nothing. Its as if the audio adapter is not getting any power. Before or after the update. Ive tried unplugging and pluging back in, power cycling, doing the update again... I cannot figure out what the problem may be.

I know it isnt getting power, because the mic button will blink red to show it is muted.. it does nothing.

Any and all ideas would be great. I cannot afford another controller or headset right now and not having a headset to play with and communicate is really making this a pain.

Note If you hear an echo effect, it often originates from the person who is talking and not from the person who hears the echo. For example, if you hear an echo only when someone else talks, the problem may be with the headset connection of the person who is talking.

The following conditions may cause an echo or noise during gameplay:

Mic
  • The microphone detects ambient noises. This includes voice transmission that comes from the earpiece.
  • The headset plug is not fully inserted into the controller.
  • You're using the Xbox One Wireless Controller, and the battery levels in the unit are low.

If you or other players hear an echo or other noise during gameplay, try the following:

  • Turn the volume down on your device's audio output.
  • Disconnect the headset, and then reconnect it firmly to the controller's expansion port.
Note Never pull on the headset cable when removing it from your controller. Remove the headset from your controller by pulling on the body of the headset plug.
  • Clean the plug on the headset cable with a clean cloth, and then reconnect the headset to the controller.
  • Test the headset by connecting it to a different controller.
  • If you're using an Xbox One Wireless Controller, replace the AA batteries or recharge the Xbox One rechargeable battery.
