This issue could be caused due to corrupt drivers.
To get a better understanding of the issue, I need some more information:
- What is the make and model of your computer?
- Did you make any changes on your computer prior to the issue?
Please follow the methods below and check if it fixes the issue.
Method 1:
Turn off your computer using Shut Down option or pressing the power button and then unplug it from the wall outlet. Wait for some time and then plug it back in and check if issue persists.
Note: The small microprocessor on the motherboard will reload the drivers and your USB ports should be back to recognizing all devices.
After trying method 1, if the issue doesn’t get fix try method 2.
Method 2: Uninstall and Re-install the Xbox 360 controller drivers from the link below.
To uninstall the driver, follow these steps.
a. Press Windows key + R from desktop and type devmgmt.msc, click Ok.
b. Select the Xbox controller device and right click on it.
d. Now select properties.
e. In the properties window, under Driver tab, click on Uninstall button.
To remove the software for xbox 360 controller, follow these steps.
a. Press Windows key + R from desktop and type appwiz.cpl, click Ok.
b. From the list find the Xbox 360 wireless controller software.
c. Right-click and uninstall it.
Re-install the driver from the below link.
